Who We Are

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is the world’s leading organization for chemical engineering professionals, with more than 40,000 members from 93 countries. AIChE has the breadth of resources and expertise you need, whether you’re in core process industries or in emerging areas, such as nanobiotechnology. As a member, you can access information on recognized and promising chemical engineering processes and methods. A global network of intelligent, resourceful colleagues and their shared wisdom. Learning opportunities from recognized authorities. All of which can help you move forward professionally and enrich the world we live in.

Our student chapter represent and support the students affiliated with the UC Davis Department of Chemical Engineering. As a member, you will have access to a variety of programs and events that we put on to ensure your success in chemical engineering here in Davis.

We've Got You Covered

Industry Tours

We host industries tours to various companies throughout the year. This provides students an amazing opportunity to see what chemical engineers do in the work force. Companies that have offered tours in the past include Proctor and Gamble, PepsiCo, Novozymes, and Anheuser Busch!

Mentorship Program

Our mentorship program pairs underclassmen and transfer students with upperclassmen mentors and organizes quarterly events (i.e. mentorship dinners and game nights) that allow mentorship pairs to interact. Mentees can also receive tips regarding classes, resumes, and careers from our mentors.

Student-Faculty Socials

We plan socials every quarter for students to interact with professors. This is a great way for students to network with professors. Events that we have held in the past include Lunch with Professors, Iron Chef Competition (cook with a professor and get your dish judged), and Kronecker Delta Golf Tournament.

Chem-E-Car is a design competition where students build a shoe-box sized car powered purely by a chemical reaction. In competition the car must carry a certain weight and travel then stop as close to a certain distance as possible. Anyone is welcome to join! Please visit our (786) 682-1225 to get the latest news and view photos of our events, past and present!

Professional Development Workshops

We offer many professional development opportunities for our members. For those interested in industry, we put on company info sessions and interview workshops. Also, annually there is a company dinner and career fair called Night With Industry. For those interested in acadamia, we put on info sessions on how to get a research position.

Student Outreach Programs

Every quarter we host events where we reach out to others about AIChE and chemical engineering. Every year, we have an Engineering Week where other engineers get an opportunity to learn about AIChE. In addition, every quarter we have events where our members travel to elementary schools to give science demonstrations and promote STEM.
